Wow, just been rewriting my “Particles for the non-scientist” session into AS3, and as we all would expect, there are major speed increases. Here’s a quick example, click for massive particle bursts… [kml_flashembed movie=”/wp-content/uploads/manual/2007/particles06.swf” width=”445″ height=”280″ FVERSION=”9″ /] I’ll be presenting this work at FlashBelt next week, and I’ll post the code up shortly afterwards.
Extreme Pamplona hits MiniClip
Remember that huuuuge game we were working on earlier in the year? The one that caused me to stop blogging for about 3 months and cancel Christmas? Well it’s finally up on MiniClip. In fact it had over 103,000 plays in the first 20 minutes! And now after one day it’s had well over a […]
Over the last few months we’ve been working like crazy little typing elves painstakingly crafting the new masthead for the FlashForward site. It’s such an honour to be asked, so we’ve put far more work into it than we allocated, in order to produce something we hope is a little bit special. 🙂 [kml_flashembed movie=”/wp-content/uploads/manual/2007/ffbanner/ffbanner_local.swf” […]
Adobe Live Myself and fellow Plug-in Media director Dominic Minns have been asked to present a 45 minute session all about the work we do. We’ll be giving you an insight into the thought processes (ha!) and the tricky codey things behind the projects we make. We’ll be in the Web Theatre on Tuesday and […]
Components in Flash CS3
My good friend Chris Sperry has just written this amazing guide on FlashBrighton, all about the best way to approach creating components in Flash CS3. Definitely worth checking out.
Plug-in Media site nominated for a Webby!
Amazing news this week that our site has been nominated for a Webby award this year. We put so much work into that site so to have it recognised by the industry is really rewarding. True to form, Plug-in’s creative director Dominic Minns, (the creative genius behind the mad ideas on the site), provided us […]
AS3 3D experiments
I had the very great pleasure on Thursday of meeting Carlos Ulloa Matesanz, ie Mr PaperVision3D! We have very similar backgrounds, with a mixture of technical and creative, and we both have a background in developing for the Amiga! I love what Carlos and the team have been doing with PaperVision, and, having studied the […]
Code not working in MTASC?
Just spent a couple of days trying to work out why the same code base was working differently in two different swfs. The reason: one was compiled in Flash and one was compiled in MTASC. It was made all the more difficult to track down because the problem was occuring within some particularly complicated open […]
3D video projections in Flash
Last one for a while, I promise! Here’s a quick demo of video projected onto a cube with light shading and alpha. Looking a bit old now that PaperVision in AS3 is out… but more about that coming soon! [Demo no longer available] If the video doesn’t show straight away, wait a while. Excellent video […]
